If a child`s efforts to speak are interfered with, or made fun of, he may become self conscious and develop a speech defect. If parents gives importance to his baby talk attractive and if they use the same mispronunciation while talking with him, he may still be speaking unintelligibly when he enters school.

Speech defects are difficult to remedy because they have their roots in some emotional maladjustment which in turn effects a child`s entire mode of life. It needs to be handled with expert help and needs a careful and trained approach.
