Every parent dreams of a smart and intelligent baby. Truly and everyone deserves it. All of us know it very well first year is the stage of rapid development.Here we see phenomenal changes in a child as in its behavior, its understanding, and the way it interacts with the world in the first year of life. After that first year, the brain looks like the brain of a normal adult. By about three, the brain has a thousand trillion connections - that’s about twice as many as an adult. From about the age of three to 10, the child undergoes very rapid intellectual, emotional and social development. The brain activity is huge, about twice the level of adult brain activity and is never really fully developed as it can continue changing and growing throughout life. You will be surprised to know that at birth baby has 100, 000, 000, 000 cells. That sounds like the technical part of brain development. But it takes some amount of efforts of parents to build a intelligent baby both at prenatal and postnatal phases. The nutritional aspect and brain building toys and games are the two significant pillars in the postnatal intellectual growth of a baby.
Play has a fundamental role in the growth of social, emotional, linguistic and intellectual capacities, enhancing your child’s expanding knowledge of the world about such complex things as size, shape, gravity, weight, rigidity, and flexibility. Play also involves the development of fine motor skills as well as gross motor skills, strengthening your child’s muscles for climbing, running and handling heavy objects.
Like in the 4th month baby`s respond to every sound produced around. It could be whichever and whatever sound produced in the world. They simply reflexes and assimilates the world around and acts of them. They begin to create categories and learn to get sense of surroundings. To make baby more probable to happenings and learnings .
Keep talking to baby whatever action/ activity you are doing . Of course infant does not react to talks as grown ups does : Don`t bother ! This is how we are introducing baby to the language.
Play Music, Bedtime stories for preschoolers it all promotes to a healthy childhood. Take baby out for safe outings for change of environment. They love seeing different objects and things around.Everything is new to them. Give baby massages. Cuddle them up. Love them, Hug them ! Make them feel safe and secure. It affects to the emotional development of baby. It relates to the stress handling abilities of the baby.
Making play time learning time with fun is actually the need of hour. I use to recite rhymes and countings to my baby when I got over with routine talks. As a result when she started speaking she already knew rhymes and she used to pick up rhythms and as learned speaking; filled words to the rhythms and sang for us all rhymes at a very early stage. It worked for me. My family has been talkative from day 1 with her. One instance I would like to share; In her 8th month we used to sing Johnny Johnny yes papa ; eating sugar no papa ; telling a lie; no papa ; open your mouth. ……and at the end she used to complete the rhyme adding “ha ha ha ” !
Beyond the exploration of the properties of objects, play encourages inventiveness, imagination, creativity and all kinds of problem solving. Indeed, observing the complexities of a young child’s play can often be quite breathtaking. So play, sing and dance is crucial to healthy mental and physical development and helps young children progressively make sense of their world. The work of the babies is to play.
